Although I did not support John McCain as my first choice for the Republican nomination for President, he is now firmly my choice for President.
Since the Saddleback Civil Forum where McCain confidently articulated his positions, to his selection of Sarah Palin as his running mate which helped to solidify his conservative credentials and maverick image, John McCain has assured me that he is the right man at the right time for our nation.
During his acceptance speech at the Republican National Convention McCain offered up reason after reason as to why he has the character, fortitude, judgment and rationale for the presidency. He also charted a vision for America that offers great hope for those of us concerned with the direction of our energy , economic and foreign policies.
McCain conveyed the fact that in face of terrorism and aggression our best defense is a strong and experienced offense. He will not allow America to fall to victim to terrorists and react, he will take on and out the threats that exist before they achieve their desired results.
On the economy McCain has vowed to set us on a policy of growth that starts with the growing of the personal pockets of our citizens. He will enhance the growth of those pockets by maintaining that taxes as a burden that need to be alleviated rather than adopted and increased as a solution. Senator McCain understands that this goes for business too. He understands that by cutting into profits we cut into the free market and the free, democratic, distribution of wealth through economic growth and increased employment.
McCain’s speech also struck the cords of Americans inherent penchant for standing up to power. In this case it was an opposition to the business as usual power brokers and Washington, D.C.’s piggish, pork barrel spenders. The one thing that McCain proved throughout his career is his ability to oppose wrong doing, even it is among the less selfless of his party and in his declaration to the people John McCain made it clear that the day of earmarks and pork barrel spending are outnumbered.
The bottom line is that despite a media that ran with headlines that gave the limelight to a handful of protesters that tried to disrupt McCain during his speech, McCain confirmed that he was deserving of our party’s nomination and is the right man with the right judgment for this time in our history.
I firmly believe that no ideology can be effectively implemented if we do not change the very system that it must be implemented in. We cannot reduce waste or spending if we accept wasteful spending that is unrelated to the bill it is attached to and accept that as an act of legitimate legislative practice.
John McCain has made stopping such unsavory conduct a staple of his career and promises to make it a staple of his Presidency. Additionally he has in Sarah Palin a Vice President that has proven to maintain that same posture. Together the two of them will lead not based upon partisan politics . They will lead from the position of what is right, not wrong.
The McCain/Palin ticket not only offers hope for a conservative ideology and approach to government to flourish but they also offer the promise for it to flourish in a system that is reformed of it’s shadier past. A system where government funding for initiatives are debated on their merits and not slipped under the radar by tagging it on to legislation that it has nothing to do with.
Their nonpartisan plight for reform will not benefit one party or another but actually benefit one nation, our nation, the United States of America.
I am confident in John McCain and Sarah Palin. Confident in their records, their vision and their intentions. With that confidence comes my enthusiastic support and defense of them in the face of a biased media that cannot restrain their hatred for them. I do not claim to be non or even bipartisan. I declare the side that I am on and in doing so my approach to the facts surrounding this campaign will presented honestly and believe me when I tell you that there is a great need for some honest assessment of the Obama/Biden ticket.
The media may suggest that they present you with news. The fact is that today’s media is in fact biased. So much so that they are riddled with a hatred that prohibits them to deliver the news as it us but instead present as they want it to be.
I will use this blog to counter that media bias. I will use it to shine light on what the left wing does not. I will use this blog to reply to their attacks and correct the record and unlike the liberal based media, I will be doing so with an honesty about where I coming from.
That is integrity, a value I share with the McCain/Palin ticket.
